Madeline always regarded her home as a sanctuary and a safe space, not just a physical structure.

When she moved to Marbella from London her goal was to have a spacious and beautiful home where she can relax and socialise.

When she sought my assistance, we discussed her vision for an open-plan living diner that would combine her Scandinavian roots with New York glamour, inspired by her time living there.

At the outset, Madeline wanted olive greens to complement taupes and greys and had already identified some furniture stores she liked. We considered the best layout for the space and various options for building a media wall, which helped her determine the furniture sizes and the media wall's location.

After seeing visual presentations of her requirements, Madeline realized that the green colour scheme wasn't for her.

By carefully considering the design process, we were able to drill down into exactly what Madeline wanted and allowed her to get really comfortable with her own style. Often we have a clear idea of our preferences and whilst experimenting with new things can be fun, there are times when being confident in our own style is all we need to feel at ease.

Ultimately, we settled on taupes and greys with black accents and metallic finishes. As she shopped, I provided guidance and support and helped her make choices that showcased her style.

When it was time to style the room, I taught her simple design tricks to decorate the open shelves and console tables in a way that looked good to her - simplicity is key for Madeline’s well-being at home.

A year later, Madeline's home has become both a hub for her social circle and a space where she can fully relax and enjoy her solitude.
