Cosy Living Room
“You’ve hugely helped us with the finer details that really make the room feel ‘complete’.”
Janet and Tony had embarked on a massive project when they decided to buy their new home. They didn’t just move in—they completely gutted and rebuilt the house to craft their dream forever home.
Tony, with an eye for detail, had already poured countless hours into the build, while Janet, with her keen sense of style, had a clear vision. But as they neared the finish line, the pressure mounted. They knew they wanted the space to be perfect, but the final touches on the décor felt overwhelming. They couldn’t afford to get it wrong—especially in their all-important living room.
That’s when they brought me in. My mission? To create a cosy, comfortable space that felt both intentional and complete. Janet wanted to move away from the one-dimensional feel of her previous interiors and introduce more colour and texture, while Tony needed symmetry and clean lines to maintain his sense of calm.
While they craved a modern vibe, their home still had traditional elements that needed to be respected. The goal was to blend the old with the new, creating harmony throughout the space.
Together, we landed on the perfect green, paired with Janet’s favourite—pink—for a fresh yet timeless palette. Tony’s focus on structure meant the layout had to be functional and orderly, but still welcoming.
To balance textures, we played with fabrics and natural materials like oak, while incorporating a glass coffee table and industrial-style lighting to add a contemporary edge. And we dove into styling tricks, like the “rule of three,” to create that polished, finished look Janet had been missing.
In the end, they got a space that beautifully marries modern and traditional design—a cosy retreat that invites relaxation, whether they’re admiring the view or relaxing up by the fire after dinner.
